How to Design a Course Using Blackboard

(This section of the site is yet to be developed. Below is a general description.)

The content of this section would match the workshop actually given on designing a course using Blackboard. The workshop is for those who have used Blackboard to post elements such as a syllabus and announcements and would like to expand their knowledge of what the program can do for their courses. It covers not only the Instructor Control Panel in more detail, but gives tips on the visual appearance and functionality of the course as a whole.

Related outside links on designing an online class would be listed under "Related Links". Handouts given during the class would also be available.

Proficiency Level: Intermediate

Subsections under this design sections would include:

Instructor Control Panel
Course Settings
Course Images
Student web pages
Course Calendar
Uploading html pages, images
How to handle projects, labs
Creating exciting learning environments
Characteristics of Online students and how this impacts on the design of an online class
Using e-packages from textbook publishers
Additional Information to include in a course for student support (i.e. providing instruction for using Excel and Powerpoint, using the Online Library, how to evaluate good and bad resources, where to obtain free software, additional web recourses, etc.).
