Presentation - RL meets SL
January 22nd, 2007 by trottahe
Our presentation today at ELI on Virtual Worlds went well although I feel the part that was missing was examples of case studies on the use of Second Life in a course along with pedagogy. What went very well was to have the presentation in real life and Second Life at the same time. We had a great audience in both worlds with some excellent questions raised. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to save the chat log .. it was hard for me to see what was going on in both worlds at the same time.
In the Horizon Report session, virtual worlds were discussed. The need for these environments to “prove” their effectiveness in promoting learning was identified along with the need for faculty-student guides. Also, the faculty perspective had to be addressed. One big question was whether Second Life could support students that were visually impaired as brought to the attention of the group.
More tomorrow ….
