Heidi Trotta is a full-time Instructional Designer and Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Her major responsibilities involve (1) e-learning creation and production work and (2) assisting students and faculty with integrating various technologies into the classroom and their personal lives. Current academic interests include humanizing online instruction, digital content production (i.e. e-Learning materials, educational video production), digital gaming, design thinking and maker spaces, promoting student creativity (i.e. 21st Century skills), effective poster and presentation design and visual literacy.
Her true passion is teaching at the college level where she takes a design thinking approach to course design and delivery. Undergraduate and graduate courses promote self-directed and active learning, allowing students to solve real-world problems while promoting critical thinking using theory and frameworks to justify decisions and actions. Current adjunct teaching load includes Master Thesis – Capstone (hybrid) and Adult Learning Theory and Coaching (online).
Heidi has her Ed.M. from Teachers College at Columbia University in Instructional Technology and Media with a Master’s Degree in Adult Education/Instructional Media from Seton Hall and certificates in Advanced Web Design/Web Graphics from Rutgers University.
To relax and have fun, she loves to pursue creative projects such as painting, sculpting, mixed media, creating books and drawing.
